    After the previous week’s visit to the triangular ‘oval’ at Pocono, the championship continued with a trip to Iowa Speedway (1.4km) for a 300-mile night-time race last Saturday evening. After qualifying 11th on the grid, Simon Pagenaud gradually worked his way up to seventh overall before making a pit stop on Lap 231, just as the race was neutralised to clear Marco Andretti’s stricken car. As a result, the Frenchman found himself at the back of the field which forced him to fight his way back to the front.

To mark the legendary American race, Simon Pagenaud’s partner B.R.M. has issued a special watch which features the colours and race number of the French driver: the V12 44 SP "77". A number of these watches were donated for the auction which was part of the gala organised by Sam Schmidt in aid of a charity which cares for people suffering from paralysis.

The timepiece comes with a 44mm brushed stainless steel and black PVD case, automatic movement, a tachymeter, a black face with sky blue needles, a stainless steel crown engraved with the number "77", and sapphire glass front and backing. It is waterproof to a depth of 100 metres, benefits from a three-year guarantee and is Made in France. The retail price is US $8.950.
