At only his fourth attempt, Simon Pagenaud ended up winning last weekend’s Rallye National de la Vienne, his first ever victory in the discipline. • 3rd place crowns Pagenaud's second IndyCar campain
Although an engine problem brought his bid for 2013 IndyCar runner-up honors to a premature halt, Simon Pagenaud ultimately completed the American series in third position. It was an excellent result and two places better than the fifth spot he secured in 2012 when he was also crowned ‘Best Rookie’.

  • THE PERFECT WEEKEND!
    THE PERFECT WEEKEND!
It was a dream of a weekend for Team HP at Baltimore. We were competitive – and quite possibly in a class of our own – from free practice all the way to the chequered flag. To have experienced such a perfect weekend was immensely satisfying.
  • THE BEST FRENCHMAN SINCE 2000!
I am thrilled to have concluded my second attempt at the Indy 500 with a top-eight finish. It’s the best result any French driver has achieved since 2000! It was very important for me to represent my country, as well as the part of France I come from – la Vienne – in what is one of

    THE RACE OF THE YEAR!
The start of the 2013 Indy 500 is approaching fast. At Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, I believe we have worked extremely well over the past two weeks which have essentially been given over to testing.
  • PIKES PEAK !
    PIKES PEAK !
The fact that I will be doing the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year was officially announced last week. It’s the world’s most famous hill climb and most people have images of the event somewhere in their minds, including the fabulous film of Ari Vatanen’s attempt in the Peugeot 405 T16 back in the 1980s. Honda is a partner of Pikes Peak and asked if I wanted to take part. Those who know me well know that I adore challenges like this and this event has fascinated me since I was a young boy. We haven’t yet revealed the car I will drive, though.

  • A TOP 8 FINISH!
    A TOP 8 FINISH!
I’m delighted for Honda and I want to congratulate A.J. Foyt’s team, as well as Taku Sato on his first victory! Honda engines monopolised the top four places at the finish, and that’s a superb reward for all the hard work the engineers have put in since the beginning of the season. As for me, HP and I had a great race and an interesting strategy which enabled me to finish eighth.

    Best rookie
Simon Pagenaud was overwhelmed by a sensation of joy last Sunday at the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. After securing his third podium finish of 2012 at Mid-Ohio just before the summer break, the Frenchman was particularly determined to battle at the sharp end once again at Sonoma.
  • One more !
    One more !
Simon Pagenaud has been a little down on luck in recent weeks. His bids to harvest points at Toronto and Edmonton were hampered either by misfortunes or by overoptimistic rivals, but it takes more than that to dent the Frenchman’s resolve to finish in the top five at the end of his first full campaign in the fiercely competitive IZOD IndyCar Series.
